How to Relieve Discomfort from Sunburns

The reason that people love visiting Cabo San Lucas is that there are so many things that you can do here!  Whether you’re spending the day on a Cabo San Lucas snorkeling tourCabo kayak tour, or even horseback riding in Cabo San Lucas, your trip will be filled with fun activities.  No matter what you do, though, there’s one thing that all of these excursions have in common: the sun.  You should wear the proper clothing and be prepared with sunscreen, but sometimes a sunburn is inevitable.

Anyone who’s had a sunburn knows that they cause a lot of discomfort.  While you’re enjoying your vacation, though, you don’t want to miss out on any fun because of your sunburn.  This article offers tips on what to do if you get a sunburn.

Take Cold Showers

Taking cold baths or showers will help you relieve the pain.  When you get out of the shower, make sure to pat yourself off with a clean towel; do so gently so that you don’t aggravate the burn.  You should leave a little water on your skin and then apply moisturizer.  The water will help trap the water in your skin.

Use Moisturizer with Aloe Vera or Soy

Aloe Vera and soy will help to relieve the sunburn.  There are also some creams that you can purchase to relieve the pain.  Be cautious, though, as some creams can irritate the skin.  Most products that end in “-caine”, such as benzocaine, may cause bad skin reactions.  That’s why it’s best to use moisturizer with Aloe Vera.

Stay Hydrated

Sunburns can lead to dehydration because they cause the water that you drink to go to the skin’s surface.  This is why it’s important that you drink extra water when you have a sunburn.

Take Pain Medicine

If you’re about to go on a Los Cabos tour, you may want to take aspirin or a similar pain medication to reduce the pain.  You will be glad you did when you’re in the water or taking a tour through the city.
